Getting a skip in Kingscliff

Kingscliff took its name in 1926, after a nearby estate, because people kept confusing the old name with Cudgen next door. It's now a beach town of about 8,400 people and a popular holiday spot, with an oceanway path for walkers and cyclists heading along the coast. The beach has battled erosion, and a foreshore revitalisation project began in 2016.

Units and holiday lets

About 21% of homes are flats or apartments. If yours is one of them, ask the building manager where a skip can go before you book. Most unit clear-outs fit a 3m³ or 4m³ bin, which hold about 12 and 16 wheelie bins.

Houses and renovations

Six in ten homes are separate houses. For a kitchen or bathroom, the 4m³ is the popular pick. A whole-house renovation usually needs a 6m³ or 9m³. Putting the skip on your driveway keeps things simple, with no council approval needed.

Kerbside means council approval

On the road, footpath or nature strip, you'll need Tweed Shire Council's approval to place a skip bin in a public place, and there's a fee. Organising it is up to you. We also work on Queensland time, which is an hour behind NSW during daylight saving.

Kingscliff questions

Common questions

Can I get a skip in Kingscliff tomorrow?

Yes, if you book before midday. We need 36 hours' notice. Pick AM or PM when you book, keeping in mind it's a preference and uses Queensland time, an hour behind NSW in summer.

Who approves a skip on a Kingscliff street?

Tweed Shire Council handles it. A skip on the road, footpath or nature strip needs its approval to place a skip bin in a public place, and there's a fee. Arranging it is your job. A skip on your own land needs no approval.

What can't go in the bin?

Asbestos, tyres and batteries are banned from every bin. So are gas bottles, liquids, wet paint and chemicals. Mattresses can go in most bins, but they must be declared when you book.

Can I add time if my reno runs over?

Yes. Every hire includes two weeks, and you can add an extra week or unlimited hire when you book.
