Surfers Paradise
skip bin hire

Surfers Paradise takes in apartment towers around Cavill Avenue and Isle of Capri canal homes, so the jobs here are just as varied. Book on our website before midday for next-day delivery, and you'll have two weeks to fill the bin.

From high-rise units to island homes

Apartments dominate Surfers Paradise. The 2021 Census found roughly 80 per cent of homes were flats or apartments. There's a quieter side too. Along the Nerang River sit four residential island neighbourhoods built around canals: Chevron Island, the Isle of Capri, Macintosh Island and Cronin Island. EZI Skips runs out of the BOSH Bins yard at 1/14 Fremantle Street, Burleigh Heads, and brings bins from 3m to 15m to the towers and the canals alike.

Ask your building manager first

Apartment towers rarely have room for a skip out on the street frontage. Before you book, ask the body corporate or building manager where a bin can go. Common answers are a car-park space, a service bay or the loading dock. Ask how long it may stay as well. Hire is 14 days as standard, so confirm the building is happy for the bin to sit there that long.

Isle of Capri, Chevron and the canal streets

On the islands, a house with its own driveway is the simplest drop-off. Chevron Island is reached by bridge along Thomas Drive, and the only road access to Cronin Island is through Chevron Island. Planning to wheelbarrow out old tiles or garden waste? Book a 4m or 6m bin with a walk-in door so you can roll loads straight in instead of lifting them.

What locals throw out

Kitchen and bathroom refits in apartments are common, as are furniture swaps in holiday and rental units. Shops around Cavill and Orchid Avenues bring fit-out waste. Around half of all households rent, so landlords and tenants book skips for end-of-lease clean-outs as well. Canal-side houses, meanwhile, tend to need bins for renovations and for garden clean-ups.

Kerbside placement and permits

If the bin stays inside your property boundary, no permit is needed. Move it onto the road, footpath or nature strip and you'll need a permit issued by the City of Gold Coast. You organise it yourself and you're fully responsible for it, as EZI Skips doesn't arrange permits for customers. If your building has no dock or car-park space to offer, allow time for the permit before you pick a delivery date.

Surfers Paradise questions

Common questions

How much notice do you need for a Surfers Paradise delivery?

At least 36 hours. Book online before midday and the bin can be delivered in Surfers Paradise the next day. You choose the date and say whether you'd prefer a morning or afternoon drop. Keep in mind that AM or PM is a preference, not a guaranteed time.

Is a permit required for a kerbside skip in Surfers Paradise?

Yes, if the skip goes on the road, footpath or nature strip. That needs a City of Gold Coast permit, and it's up to you to arrange it and take responsibility for it. A bin kept within your own property boundary needs no permit.

Which skip size fits a Surfers Paradise job?

Size the bin to the building. For one apartment kitchen or bathroom, a 3m or 4m does the job and slots more readily into a car-park bay or dock. Renovating a whole unit, or a canal home on Chevron Island or the Isle of Capri, generally takes a 6m or 9m. When a big commercial strip-out is on and there's space, the 15m hook bin is an option. Dirt tops out at 4m, concrete at 6m.

Can the skip go in my building's loading dock?

If the building says yes, it can. Get the go-ahead from your body corporate or building manager, make sure the bin fits the space, and confirm a truck can get in and back out. Because the dock is on the building's own land rather than public land, no council permit is needed.
