Skip hire close to home in Burleigh Heads

EZI Skips runs out of the BOSH Bins yard at 1/14 Fremantle Street, Burleigh Heads. The suburb reaches from Burleigh Head National Park on the headland, following Tallebudgera Creek inland as far as West Burleigh. Near the beach are The Esplanade and Goodwin Terrace, lined with heritage-listed Norfolk pines, plus the cafes and shops on James and Connor Streets. Koala Park, a residential pocket next to the creek, was built up in the 1960s. Over in West Burleigh there are more shops, plus a small industrial pocket that takes in Township Drive.

Refreshing a unit

Nearly half of Burleigh Heads homes were flats or apartments when the 2021 Census was taken, ahead of separate houses at around 39 per cent. If you're refurbishing a unit, speak to your building manager or body corporate before anything else. Your building may set rules on skip placement and on how long one can stay. A 3m or 4m is the right fit for unit work and takes up less of a shared car park. If the street turns out to be the only option, see the permit notes below.

Older houses and James Street shops

Room-by-room renovations of older houses are common here, and for a house renovation a 6m or 9m skip is the usual pick. A 6m takes about 24 wheelie bins of waste, a 9m about 36. If the house has a driveway, keep the skip on it and you won't need a permit at all. Refits of shops around the James Street precinct are typical work too, and the right size there depends on how much is coming out.

West Burleigh industrial units

Clearing out an industrial unit in West Burleigh is a bigger task, and commercial or demolition waste is exactly what the 15m hook bin is for. It holds roughly 60 wheelie bins of material. If your unit has a hardstand or a loading area inside the property, that can make a good home for a larger bin and keeps it off the street. Heavy waste still has limits: dirt only in a bin up to 4m³, and concrete only up to 6m³.

When a permit is needed

Within your property line, there's no permit to worry about. Once the skip goes onto the road, footpath or nature strip, the City of Gold Coast requires one. You organise that permit yourself and remain responsible for it all the way through. EZI Skips doesn't apply for permits, so work out where the bin can sit before you book. A driveway, hardstand or approved car park keeps things simple.

Burleigh Heads questions

Common questions

How much notice do you need for a Burleigh Heads delivery?

At least 36 hours. If you book online before 12 noon, the skip can be delivered in Burleigh Heads the following day, on the date you choose. You'll also pick AM or PM, which is a preference rather than a guaranteed window.

When does a Burleigh Heads skip need a permit?

Only when it sits outside your property, on the road, footpath or nature strip. In that case the City of Gold Coast requires a permit, and arranging it is up to you, along with the responsibility for it. A skip on your driveway, or in an approved car park or loading area, needs none.

Can the skip go in my apartment block's car park?

Only if your body corporate or building manager agrees, since shared car parks are common property. With their okay, a 3m or 4m usually does the job and leaves room for residents' cars. Without it, the bin would have to go on the street with a council permit, which you'd organise yourself.

What can't go in a skip from a Burleigh Heads job?

Asbestos, tyres and batteries are banned from every bin, along with gas bottles, liquids, wet paint and chemicals. Heavy materials are fine within weight limits: dirt only in bins up to 4m³, and concrete or clean rubble in bins up to 6m³. Call 1800 462 674 if a big heavy load needs splitting across bins.
