Skip hire where the two highways meet
The Gold Coast Highway and the Pacific Highway join up at Tugun. The suburb follows the beach south from Flat Rock at the Currumbin end down to Bilinga. Locals shop along Golden Four Drive, O'Connor Street has the surf club, and Inland Drive is home to John Flynn Private Hospital. Traffic at the old highway junction has moved much more freely since 2008, when the Tugun Bypass opened. You can order a 3m, 4m, 6m or 9m skip for Tugun 4224, or step up to a 15m hook bin for the biggest jobs.
A suburb of mixed housing
Tugun's homes cover a lot of ground. In the 2021 Census, a little under half were separate houses, and townhouses or semis accounted for roughly 30 per cent. Apartments made up most of the remainder, the beachside holiday units among them. Two local places are heritage-listed, too: a Moreton Bay fig at the corner of Golden Four Drive and Toolona Street, and the Ar Dee beach house in San Michele Street.
What people clear out in Tugun
Locals often hire a skip to update an older beach house, give a townhouse a refresh between tenants, redo a kitchen or bathroom, or tidy the garden. A 3m General Household bin suits a quick clear-out of furniture, boxes and old appliances. Garden clean-ups suit a Green Waste bin. Doing some digging or demolition? Soil can't go in anything over a 4m, and concrete tops out at a 6m.
Getting the drop spot ready
Townhouse complexes in Tugun often have shared driveways. You'll need the body corporate's okay before a skip goes there, and it shouldn't block anyone's garage. If you're on a house block, measure the space before you book, and check there's room for the truck to get close. Then, before delivery day, clear away any parked cars and wheelie bins so the truck has an open spot to set the bin down.
Kerbside skips and permits
There's nothing to apply for while the skip stays inside your boundary. Put it on the road, footpath or nature strip, though, and a City of Gold Coast permit is needed. The customer arranges that permit and carries full responsibility for it, as EZI Skips doesn't apply for permits. A complete beach house overhaul may call for a 9m, or even the 15m hook bin where there's space for it. If most of the load is garden waste, book a Green Waste bin.
Is there a skip with a door for loading in Tugun?
Yes, the 4m and 6m bins can come with a walk-in door. It makes loading simpler when you're moving bulky furniture or pushing a loaded barrow. The 3m, 9m and 15m bins don't have the door option.
