Planning a skip bin on Hope Island
Water wraps most of the way around Hope Island. The Coomera River bends along the west and north, its southern branch marks the east, and Saltwater Creek follows the southern side. Inside those edges are three quite different communities: Sanctuary Cove up north, Santa Barbara to the west and Boykambil to the east. Gates, body corporates and shared driveways all come into play here, so think about access before you think about bin size.
Gated estates need a little notice
Sanctuary Cove is gated and run through several residential body corporates, and some parts of Hope Island Resort have gated entries too. If you live in one of these, two jobs come before booking. First, read your estate's rules about skip bins. Second, arrange for the delivery truck to get through the gate on the day. Tick both off early and the drop-off should go smoothly.
Renovating with a view
Lots of Hope Island homes have a marina or waterway view, or look onto a fairway at The Palms, The Pines or the Hope Island Resort course. Common projects include new kitchens and bathrooms, outdoor living upgrades and complete garden makeovers. With the good side of the house facing the water or the golf course, the front driveway is the obvious place for the skip. For a big waterfront reno covering the kitchen and living areas, a 6m³ or 9m³ bin gives you room to work.
Units along Santa Barbara Road
Along Santa Barbara Road, the unit complexes share their driveways and visitor parks, which means the body corporate decides where a bin can go. Ask before you book. If the space they give you is small, go for the 3m³ skip. It holds about 12 wheelie bins' worth and is the simplest size to squeeze in. The 4m³, our most popular all-rounder, is the next step up if there's room.
On your land or on the street
You don't need a permit when the bin sits inside your property boundary, whether that's a driveway, a yard or a spot your body corporate has approved. Out on public land, such as the road, footpath or nature strip, the City of Gold Coast requires one. That's something you arrange and take responsibility for. EZI Skips doesn't organise permits, so build it into your plans early if street placement looks likely.

Common questions
How much notice do you need for a Hope Island delivery?
We can deliver from 36 hours after you book, and an order placed before midday can arrive the next day. You choose the date online and tick AM or PM. We aim for your preference, but it isn't a guaranteed time slot, so arrange gate access to cover the whole morning or afternoon.
Does a skip on public land in Hope Island need a permit?
Yes. Once a skip is out on the road, footpath or nature strip, you'll need to get a permit from the City of Gold Coast, and that part is up to you. You also carry the responsibility for it. Keep the skip inside your own boundary, on a driveway or in the yard, and no permit is needed at all.
What should I check before a skip comes into Sanctuary Cove?
Two things. Find out what your estate's rules say about skip bins, and line up gate access so the truck can get in on delivery day. The same applies in the gated parts of Hope Island Resort. If the skip ends up outside your property instead, on a road, footpath or nature strip, you'll also need a City of Gold Coast permit.
Can old pavers and garden waste share one bin?
Keep them apart. Old pavers belong in a Concrete & Clean Rubble bin, up to 6m³ in size. Plants, clippings and branches from a garden makeover suit a Green Waste bin, which takes green material only. For a bathroom refresh or a unit clear-out, a 3m³ or 4m³ general bin fits a tighter driveway.
