Getting a skip into Benowa and Benowa Waters

Benowa is really two neighbourhoods, split by Ashmore Road. On the northern side is the older, established part of the suburb. To the south lies Benowa Waters, where the canals link up with the Nerang River. A handful of homes were built here as early as the 1890s, though newer houses have long since taken their place. With Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach just nearby, renovators still find plenty to like. In 2021 the Census counted around 60 per cent of homes as separate houses and just over a quarter as townhouses.

Bins on Benowa Waters canal blocks

Canal homes face the water at the back, so the skip has to go out the front, usually on the driveway. Outdoor makeovers on these blocks often throw up soil and concrete, and both are heavy. Dirt is limited to a bin of 4m³ or smaller, while concrete and clean rubble top out at 6m³. If one bin won't hold the lot, phone 1800 462 674 and the load can be split across several bins.

Townhouse complexes

With townhouses making up more than a quarter of local homes, a lot of Benowa jobs begin with a chat to the body corporate. Get their approval, then pick a location together, for example a visitor bay or the apron in front of your garage. Check the truck has space to drive in and turn around, and keep shared driveways open for neighbours. The shared areas of a complex are still private land, so council only gets involved if the skip ends up out on the street.

From one room to a full rebuild

Typical Benowa jobs range from garden clean-ups and downsizing clear-outs to new kitchens, new bathrooms and full knock-down rebuilds. Updating a single room rarely takes more than a 3m or 4m skip. Renovating the whole house, or clearing a large garden on a Benowa Waters block, is more likely to need a 6m or 9m. Demolishing a house before you rebuild is where the 15m hook bin earns its place, provided the site has room for it.

Delivering all over Benowa

EZI Skips delivers right across the suburb, including Benowa Road, Mediterranean Drive and the streets near Benowa Gardens Shopping Centre, Pindara Private Hospital and RACV Royal Pines Resort. A skip on your own driveway or front lawn stays within your boundary, so there's no permit to worry about. If it has to sit on the road, footpath or nature strip, you'll need a City of Gold Coast permit. Applying for it is up to you, and so is responsibility for it, because EZI doesn't arrange permits.

Benowa questions

Common questions

What's the earliest I can get a skip in Benowa?

Deliveries start 36 hours after booking at the earliest. That means ordering online before 12 noon can get a bin to Benowa the following day. Pick your date and choose AM or PM, keeping in mind that it's a preference, not a guaranteed time.

Can my skip sit on the street in Benowa?

It can, but you'll need a City of Gold Coast permit for the road, footpath or nature strip, and you arrange it yourself. That permit is your responsibility, not ours. Keep the bin on your driveway, lawn or other private land and no permit is required.

What size skip suits a Benowa knock-down rebuild?

For demolition ahead of a rebuild, go for the 15m hook bin, which holds about 60 wheelie bins of material, as long as the site has space for it. Soil can't go in bins of 6m³ and over, so dig-out dirt needs its own Dirt bin of 4m³ or less.

Can a skip go in my townhouse visitor bay?

Yes, if your body corporate signs off on it. Make sure the truck can get in and turn around, and that the bin won't block shared driveways. Because the complex is private land, there's no council permit involved. For a bathroom update or pre-sale tidy-up, a 3m or 4m skip suits tighter spaces.
