Broadbeach
skip bin hire
Broadbeach is almost all apartments, so the first question is usually where the skip will go, not how big it should be. Once your building has agreed on a spot, book online, get your order in before midday to have it there tomorrow, and keep it for the standard two-week hire.

Hiring a skip among Broadbeach's apartment blocks
Broadbeach is small, tightly built and made up almost entirely of units. When the 2021 Census was taken, separate houses barely registered, with just a handful counted. Oasis Shopping Centre on Victoria Avenue, the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre and The Star Gold Coast all sit within the suburb. Oasis was built where Lennon's Broadbeach Hotel used to be, a hotel dating back to the mid-1950s. For anyone hiring a skip, all that density means one thing: plan the drop-off spot first.
Finding room for the bin
Front yards are rare here. In practice that leaves three likely spots: the loading dock, a visitor parking bay or the basement car park. Whichever one you want, your body corporate or building manager has to approve it. Covered driveways and car park entries can be low, so measure the clearance before you put that spot forward. The truck also needs enough room to lower the bin into place. When booking, pick AM or PM and pass it on to the building so they know roughly when the truck is due. It's a preference, not a fixed slot.
Rentals, refurbs and retail
Around half of Broadbeach homes are rented, so tenant changeovers, new furniture and investor refreshes are common reasons to hire a skip. Owners redoing a kitchen or bathroom will fill a General Builders bin with mixed renovation waste. Shops, including those around Oasis, need bins for fit-outs and strip-outs. One tip for clearing a furnished unit: furniture takes up a lot of space without weighing much, so choose your skip by volume. A 4m holds about 16 wheelie bins' worth.
Choosing a size for a unit
Start with how much space the building can give you, then think about the waste. The 3m has the smallest footprint and suits a single bathroom. A 4m covers a kitchen, or emptying a whole unit between tenants. Renovating an entire apartment or fitting out a shop may need a 6m or 9m, where the building has room for one. Need to wheel things in rather than lift them? The 4m and 6m are available with a walk-in door.
Putting a skip on the street
While the bin stays within the property boundary, there's no permit involved. If it has to go on a road, footpath or nature strip, such as along Surf Parade or Old Burleigh Road, the City of Gold Coast requires a permit. You'll need to apply for it yourself, and you're responsible for it. EZI Skips doesn't apply for permits on anyone's behalf, so if your building can't offer a spot, check this before you book.

Common questions
How far ahead should I book a skip for my Broadbeach unit?
Give it at least 36 hours. A booking made online in the morning, before 12 noon, means the skip can reach Broadbeach the next day on the date you pick. Choose AM or PM and let your building manager know, keeping in mind it's a preference and not a set time.
My building has no space. Can the skip go on the street?
It can, with a permit from the City of Gold Coast, which is needed for any bin on the road, footpath or nature strip. You arrange that permit yourself and carry the responsibility for it. A bin inside the property boundary, such as in a loading dock, doesn't need one.
Will a skip truck fit into my building's basement?
Not always. Basement car parks and covered entries may not be tall enough for the truck, so measure the clearance before choosing that spot. The truck also needs space to lower the bin. If the basement won't work, ask the building manager about the loading dock or a visitor bay instead.
What if my renovation includes concrete?
Concrete and clean rubble can go in a bin up to 6m³, and dirt in a bin up to 4m³, because of the weight. Mixed renovation waste suits a General Builders bin. Asbestos, tyres and batteries can't go in any skip, and neither can gas bottles, liquids, wet paint or chemicals.
