What to know before hiring a skip in Carrara
Carrara is built on the Guragunbah Plain, which is flat and low-lying. On the east it's bounded by the Nerang River, and along most of the west by the Pacific Motorway, with Nerang–Broadbeach Road cutting through past the Carrara Sports Precinct. There are two golf courses, Palm Meadows and Emerald Lakes, and the Emerald Lakes canal estate sits where the Surfers Paradise International Raceway used to be. Housing is a real mix. In 2021, separate houses were just over half of all homes, and townhouses or semi-detached homes accounted for about a third.
Where to put the bin
Many Carrara homes are townhouses, where the driveway is normally shared common property. Ask the body corporate for the green light first. A smaller skip, either 3m or 4m, keeps a shared driveway passable for the neighbours. Own a stand-alone house? Then it's simpler, since your driveway is private land. One more thing to watch: because the suburb sits low on the plain, the ground can get soft after heavy rain, so a concrete or paved surface is a safer base for the skip than lawn.

Permits in Carrara
No permit is needed when the skip sits inside your boundary. If it ends up on the road, footpath or nature strip, the City of Gold Coast requires a permit. The person hiring the skip applies for it and is fully responsible for it, as EZI Skips doesn't arrange permits. On a house block with a driveway, that usually means there's no permit to think about at all.

Do I need permission to put a skip on a Carrara street?
Yes, from the City of Gold Coast. Any skip placed on the road, footpath or nature strip requires a council permit, and you apply for it and take responsibility for it. In a townhouse complex, you'll also need the body corporate's okay to use the shared driveway.
Is a 15m hook bin an option in Carrara?
Yes, for a major renovation or a demolition, as long as the block has enough space. The 15m holds about 60 wheelie bins of waste. Smaller jobs need less: a 3m or 4m suits a townhouse refresh or one room, and a 6m or 9m suits a bigger family renovation or clearing the whole yard.
Can I hire a skip once a tenant moves out?
Yes. Plenty of Carrara homes are rentals, just over 25 per cent in 2021, so clearing out after a tenant leaves is a normal job here. A General Household bin takes furniture, boxes and general rubbish. Leave out asbestos, tyres, batteries, gas bottles, liquids, wet paint and chemicals, as no bin can take them.
