Nerang skip hire for trade yards and family homes

The suburb's name comes from the Nerang River, which still flows through it. Price Street is the heart of the old town and home to the heritage-listed Nerang Hall. On the north-west outskirts, Nerang National Park covers a spread of forested hills. Since 1979 the Pacific Motorway has skirted around the town centre, and the current station on the Gold Coast rail line dates from 1997. At the 2021 Census, separate houses accounted for roughly 60 per cent of homes, and semi-detached homes or townhouses for close to one in four.

Clearing out a workshop or trade unit

Spencer Road, Brendan Drive and Lawrence Drive are Nerang's light industrial streets, where panel beaters, equipment hire firms and trade businesses operate. A skip in the yard or parking bay of your own unit doesn't need a permit, although a strata complex may want the body corporate to sign off first. Bigger workshop clear-outs suit the 9m³ skip or the 15m³ hook bin, provided there's enough room on site for the truck to drop it.

Renos and clear-outs at home

Away from the industrial streets, Nerang homes are mainly houses with a block of their own, along with townhouse complexes where residents share the driveway. Typical jobs here are family renovations, clearing out the garage or shed, and cutting back large gardens. If your driveway runs downhill, put the skip on the flattest, firmest stretch. In a townhouse complex, have a word with the body corporate first so delivery day goes without a hitch.

Green waste from big gardens

Branches and prunings take up more room than you'd think, so size up rather than down. A Green Waste bin takes garden material only, and anything else in the load brings a contamination fee. A 6m³ bin holds about 24 wheelie bins, a handy size when a big garden gets a proper cut-back. Clearing the garage at the same time? Book a General Household bin for that and keep the two loads apart.

On site or on the kerb?

It doesn't matter whether it's a home or a factory unit: if the skip stays on your own property, no permit is required. Put it on the kerb, footpath or nature strip, though, and you'll need a City of Gold Coast permit. You lodge the application yourself, and you carry the responsibility. EZI Skips doesn't arrange permits, so plan for it early if your site is short on space.

Nerang questions

Common questions

Is next-day delivery possible in Nerang?

Yes, when you book before midday. The earliest we deliver is 36 hours from booking. Set your date online and say whether AM or PM suits. We'll aim for it, but it isn't locked in, so leave the site clear from the start of that half of the day, whether it's a driveway or a workshop yard.

Is there a permit for a skip outside a Nerang workshop?

Only if it's on the street. Public spots like the road, footpath or nature strip call for a City of Gold Coast permit, and arranging it is your responsibility. Inside your unit's yard or parking bay, no permit is needed, though a strata complex may want the body corporate's okay first.

What size skip should I get for a Nerang home or business?

Match it to the job. Garage clean-outs and bathroom renos in a Nerang house usually fill a 3m³ or 4m³, roughly 12 to 16 wheelie bins. Bigger renovations or workshop clean-ups step up to a 6m³ or 9m³, and the 15m³ hook bin handles large commercial or demolition work. Heavy waste is capped: dirt at 4m³, concrete at 6m³.

What can't go in a skip from a Nerang workshop?

Every bin is off limits for asbestos, tyres and batteries, and the same goes for gas bottles, liquids, wet paint and chemicals. Panel shops and trades need to keep those out of the load and dispose of them another way. General workshop rubbish, like offcuts and packaging, suits a General Builders bin.
